92_SR0445 LRB9216797BHbh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin 4 "Bud" Ehrlich of Danville, who passed away April 5,2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was born May 16, 1919, in Chicago, 6 the son of Barney and Bessie Middleman Ehrlich; he married 7 Marcia Kerman on October 17, 1942, in Abilene, Texas; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was president of Bud's Electronics 9 and Car Stereo and Bud's Express Cellular; he was 10 instrumental in bringing cable television to Danville; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich served in the U.S. Army during World 12 War II as a Master Sergeant in North Africa, France, and 13 Italy, and learned many languages while being in those 14 countries; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was a member of the Congregation 16 Israel, a life-time member of Hadassah, and a life-time 17 member of B'nai B'rith; he was a member of Elks Lodge 332; 18 and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was a member of the Red Mask Players 20 and the Danville Light Opera; he played Tevya from Fiddler on 21 the Roof twice; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich had early theater experience when 23 his parents owned a restaurant, Mamma Ehrlichs, near the 24 Marlboro Theater in Chicago, where he met such stars as 25 Milton Berle and Sophie Tucker, who frequented the 26 restaurant; and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was very charitable to many causes; 28 he enjoyed playing gin, watching the Cubs and Bears, bowling, 29 golf, handball, and volleyball, he was an avid sports fan; 30 Mr. Ehrlich received an award for his involvement in the -2- LRB9216797BHbh 1 early part of Danville's urban rehabilitation; and 2 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was very generous to his family and 3 friends and will be deeply missed by them, especially his 4 daughter, Beth (Al) Pontecone; his six grandchildren, 5 Bradley, Carrie, Marisa, Talia, Alexa, and Hannah; his 6 several special nieces and nephews who were like brothers and 7 sisters; and his many friends; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Ehrlich was preceded in death by his wife, 9 Marcia; and his four sisters, one at birth, Lillian, Brenner, 10 Carrie Pollack, and Sylvia Weinstein; therefore, be it 11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 13 all those who knew him and loved him, the death of Marvin 14 "Bud" Ehrlich; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 16 presented to the family of Marvin "Bud" Ehrlich of Danville 17 with our deepest sympathies.
