 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois  Senate  are  deeply
 3    saddened  to learn of the death Jesse Jordan, beloved husband
 4    of Gertrude Jordan, the Director of the  Illinois  Department
 5    of  Employment  Security,  on  March  9, 2002 at Jackson Park
 6    Hospital in Chicago; and

 7        WHEREAS, Jesse Jordan was born on November  13,  1928  in
 8    Pensacola, Florida, to Lillian and Jesse Jordan, Sr.; and

 9        WHEREAS, Jesse Jordan was the oldest of nine brothers and
10    sisters; and

11        WHEREAS,  The  Lord came into his life at a young age and
12    he accepted Christ as his Savior at Mount Zion Baptist Church
13    in Pensacola, Florida; and

14        WHEREAS,  Jesse  Jordan   attended   public   school   in
15    Pensacola; and

16        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Jordan  served  his country proudly in the
17    United States Army; and

18        WHEREAS, Jesse Jordan married his beloved  wife  Gertrude
19    on  October  25, 1965 in Chicago; their marriage of nearly 37
20    years was blessed by children and grandchildren; and

21        WHEREAS, Jesse will be remembered for his devotion to the
22    Lord, his love of fishing,  the  loving  way  he  tended  his
23    tomato  plants,  and his enthusiasm for the game of football;
24    and

25        WHEREAS, Jesse is survived  by  his  loving  and  devoted
26    wife,  Gertrude, their children, and grandchildren, therefore
27    be it

28        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

 1    all who knew him, the  death  of  Jesse  Jordan;  and  be  it
 2    further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented to  the  family  of  Jesse  Jordan  with  our  most
 5    heartfelt sympathies.
