 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate express their
 3    sincere condolences to the family and  friends  of  James  J.
 4    Moody of Springfield, who passed away January 3, 2002; and

 5        WHEREAS,   Mr.   Moody   was   born  June  15,  1925,  in
 6    Taylorville, the son of George and Margaret O'Hara Moody;  he
 7    married Jean Bourke in 1952; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Moody  worked  in  insurance  as  a claims
 9    adjuster for 25 years, and  retired  from  the  Secretary  of
10    State  drivers  services division, where he had worked for 22
11    years; and

12        WHEREAS, Mr. Moody was a member of  St.  Joseph's  Church
13    and  a  U.S.  Marine  Corps veteran of World War II; he was a
14    life member of Disabled American Veterans  and  a  member  of
15    Knights of Columbus Council 364 and the Romeo Club; Mr. Moody
16    was a member and past president of the Sons of Erin; he was a
17    Democratic  precinct  committeeman for 20 years and served on
18    the Sangamon County Board for 18 years; and

19        WHEREAS, James J. Moody will  be  deeply  missed  by  all
20    those  who  loved him and knew him, including his wife, Jean;
21    his daughters, Sally Whitener, Mary Moody, and Katie  (Steve)
22    McNamara;  his  sons,  Jim  and Terry (Terry) Moody; his nine
23    grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his  brother  Fred
24    Moody; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
27    his  family  and  friends,  the  death  of  James J. Moody of
28    Springfield; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented to his wife, Jean, as an expression of our esteem.
