 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Donald E. Redpath, Sr., of Springfield who passed away  on
 5    January 17, 2002; and

 6        WHEREAS, Donald E. Redpath, Sr. was born on September 12,
 7    1923,  in  Springfield,  the  son of Louis and Gladys Denning
 8    Redpath; he married Cleste Dove in 1943; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Redpath was an officer for  the  Springfield
10    Police  Department  for  25  years,  attaining  the  rank  of
11    assistant  chief  of  police before retiring in 1981; he then
12    served as chief of police for the Springfield  Park  District
13    until 1987; Mr. Redpath was also a U.S. Navy Veteran of World
14    War II; and

15        WHEREAS,  Mr. Redpath was a member of Central Lodge 71 AF
16    & AM, the Scottish Rite, and the American Legion Post 32;  he
17    was  a  past  president  of  the  Policemen's  Benevolent and
18    Protective Association of Illinois and a life member of  unit
19    5,   executive   vice   president  for  the  Illinois  Police
20    Association, past president of Eagle FOE 437, and a  lifetime
21    member of the VFW; and

22        WHEREAS,  Donald  E. Redpath, Sr., will be greatly missed
23    by all those who knew him and loved him, especially his wife,
24    Celeste; his sons, Louis (Laura) Redpath III,  Chuck  (Bambi)
25    Redpath, Earl "Doc" (Carol) Redpath, and Michael Redpath; his
26    daughters,  Gladys  "Sue" (Greg) Renaud, Karen (Bill) Becker,
27    Sharon (Danny) Paoni, Catherine (Ron) Mumaw, and Retha  (Jim)
28    Riemer;  his 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his
29    brother, Gerald (Betty) Redpath; his sister,  Retha  Edwards;
30    and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

31        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL

 1    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
 2    Donald E. Redpath, Sr., of Springfield; and be it further

 3        RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
 4    to the family of Donald E. Redpath,  Sr.,  with  our  deepest
 5    sympathies.
