92_SR0225 LRB9210702RHrhA 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Daniel "Danny" Trant, who passed away on September 11, 5 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York; and 6 WHEREAS, In 1991, Mr. Trant moved his family to Long 7 Island, New York and began a career on Wall Street, working 8 for several brokerage firms before starting at Cantor 9 Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center in 1997; he previously 10 worked for the Hampden County District Attorney's Office in 11 Massachusetts for five years; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Trant loved basketball and was drafted by 13 the Boston Celtics in 1983 but passed up rookie camp to play 14 professional basketball in Ireland; in 1984 and 1985 he 15 played in Cork, Belfast, and Dublin, playing for Jameson, 16 Team Milk, and then leading Team Yoplait in scoring en route 17 to All-Irish National Basketball honors; he returned to the 18 United States to play for the Springfield Fame of the US 19 Basketball League, leading them to a league championship; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. Trant was very active as a youth basketball 21 and soccer coach for numerous teams in his church and in his 22 community; and 23 WHEREAS, The passing of Daniel Trant will be deeply felt 24 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Kathy; 25 his children, Jessica, Daniel, and Alex; his parents; his 26 brothers and sisters; and his many relatives, friends, and 27 colleagues; therefore, be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 30 all who knew him, the death of Daniel Trant of Long Island, 31 New York; and be it further -2- LRB9210702RHrhA 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Daniel Trant with our sincere 3 condolences.
