92_SR0203 LRB9210009RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Eleanor Twyla Walls Tanner, who passed away on August 10, 5 2001; and 6 WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Dinky" and "E.T." by 7 family and friends, Mrs. Tanner was the fifth of seven 8 children born to Norma Slack Walls and the late James Clark 9 Walls on August 19, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri; and 10 WHEREAS, On July 19, 1980, Eleanor Walls married Darrel 11 Franklin Tanner; they are the proud parents of twin 12 daughters, Darriel Francine and Darrian Francel Tanner and 13 son, Darrel Franklin Tanner, Jr.; and 14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tanner attended Dunbar Elementary School, 15 Slade Elementary School, and Clark Junior High School in East 16 St. Louis School District 189; she graduated from East St. 17 Louis Senior High School in 1972; in addition, she attended 18 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and was preparing 19 to attend Southwestern Illinois Community College in 20 Belleville to finish her studies in accounting; and 21 WHEREAS, For the past 17 years, Mrs. Tanner was employed 22 by the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department, 23 where she served as accounts payable coordinator; prior to 24 her employment in St. Clair County, she had worked as a 25 receptionist for Dr. Raymond Routier, D.D.S. in East St. 26 Louis; and 27 WHEREAS, Mrs. Tanner was a member of the Church of God in 28 Christ Congregational under the pastoralship of her 29 grandfather, the late Senior Bishop George Slack; in 1997 she 30 became a member at the Greater Faith Christian Fellowship in 31 East St. Louis under the leadership of her brother-in-law, -2- LRB9210009RHrh 1 Pastor Yulrie Tanner, where she also served as a member of 2 the Usher Board; and 3 WHEREAS, During her leisure time, Mrs. Tanner enjoyed 4 roller-skating at Skate King Centers in East St. Louis, 5 Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri; and 6 WHEREAS, The passing of Eleanor Twyla Walls Tanner will 7 be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her 8 husband, Darrel Franklin Tanner; her daughters, Darriel 9 Francine Tanner and Darrian Francel Tanner; her son, Darrel 10 Franklin Tanner, Jr.; her mother, Norma Slack Walls; her 11 mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hazel and Willie Tanner, 12 Sr.; her brother, Kenneth D. Walls; her sisters, Dr. LaRona 13 (husband, Oreido) Morris, Dr. Stephanie W. Carpenter, Tanya 14 W. Rodgers, Pamela Bady, and Sheila Williams; her 15 half-sisters, Latisha Perry and Lisa (husband, Anthony) 16 Perry; her brothers-in-law, William Tanner Jr., Jonathan 17 Glenn (wife, Sheryl) Tanner, and Pastor Yulrie (wife, Amanda) 18 Tanner; her sisters-in-law, Togetta (husband, Bishop Kenneth) 19 Ulmer, Lelo (husband, the Reverend Norman E. Jr.) Owens, and 20 Yvette Young; her aunts, Elward L. May, Jessie (husband, 21 George) Galloway, and Ruth Slack; her great-uncle, Eddie 22 (wife, Rosie) Langford; her great-aunts, Louise Clack, 23 Mildred Langford, and Susie Langford; her nephews; her 24 nieces; her great-nephews; her great-nieces; her cousins; and 25 a host of other relatives and friends; therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 28 all who knew her, the death of Eleanor Twyla Walls Tanner of 29 East St. Louis, Illinois; and be it further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 31 presented to the family of Eleanor Twyla Walls Tanner with 32 our sincere condolences.
