 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of Edward F. Welch, who recently passed away; and

 5        WHEREAS, Edward F. Welch was born on August 28,  1917  in
 6    Tampico,  Illinois to Charles S. and Sophia Steinke Welch; he
 7    married the late Sarabeth Richardson  on  June  28,  1947  in
 8    Galesburg; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Welch  graduated  from Corpus Christi High
10    School and attended Knox  College;  he  also  served  in  the
11    United States Army during World War II; and

12        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Welch  worked for the United States Postal
13    Department for 38 years and was the Knox County Circuit Clerk
14    for nine years, retiring in 1982; and

15        WHEREAS, Mr. Welch was a member and past Exalted Ruler of
16    Elks Lodge 895, a member of Joseph Hunt  Council  Knights  of
17    Columbus 556, Moose Lodge 880, Ralph M. Noble American Legion
18    Post  285,  Lions  Club,  V.F.W.  Post 2257, AMVETS, Disabled
19    American Veterans,  and  a  former  member  of  John  Ericson
20    Republican  League;  he was also a member of Immaculate Heart
21    of Mary Catholic Church; and

22        WHEREAS, The passing of Edward F. Welch  will  be  deeply
23    felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his sons, John
24    Welch,  Patrick  Welch, Stephen Welch, and Richard Welch, his
25    daughter, Sara Jane  Esp;  his  brother,  Harold  Welch;  his
26    sisters,  Eileen  Aldrich  and Veneriece Carrigan; and his 11
27    grandchildren; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
30    all who knew him, the death of Edward F. Welch of  Galesburg,
31    Illinois; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to the family of Edward F. Welch with  our  sincere
 3    condolences.
