1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Salvatore "Sam" Biardo, who passed away on April 22, 2001;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, After learning that he was dyslexic when he was
7 in the fifth grade at Carpenter Elementary School, Sam Biardo
8 took on his challenge with patience and hard work; and
9 WHEREAS, As a student at Maine South High School in Park
10 Ridge, Illinois, Sam Biardo spent each day at the school's
11 resource center, where he received assistance with his
12 assignments; during his free periods at school, he would stay
13 in study hall and tutor other students; in addition he
14 excelled in computer science and math; he earned a varsity
15 letter as a member of the Mathletes and won two college
16 academic scholarships; and
17 WHEREAS, Sam Biardo was a freshman in the computer
18 science program at the University of Illinois at
19 Urbana-Champaign; he was a recent addition to the Psi Upsilon
20 fraternity; and
21 WHEREAS, Sam was also an avid cyclist, rock climber, and
22 a roller-coaster enthusiast; he enjoyed listening to music,
23 especially by Mariah Carey, Brittney Spears, DMB, and
24 Sublime; and he enjoyed watching his favortite television
25 shows that included The Simpsons, South Park, Pokemon, Martha
26 Stewart Living, MAD TV, football, and watching The Rock on
27 the World Wrestling Federation; he also shared a special
28 friendship with his little brother Alex and cat, Tut; and
29 WHEREAS, Sam Biardo also enjoyed eating his father's
30 specialty omelets, Kraft macaroni and cheese the way his
31 mother made it, vanilla ice cream, and Sprite with no ice;

2 WHEREAS, Sam Biardo lived every day to its fullest
3 despite its challenges; and
4 WHEREAS, The passing of Sam Biardo will be deeply felt by
5 all who knew and loved him, especially his parents, Sam Sr.
6 and Mary Biardo; his brother, Alex; his grandmothers, Audrey
7 Lego and Hildegard Biardo; his uncles, Andy Lego and Jim
8 (wife, Karen) Lego; his cousins, Kim, Jenni, Connie, and
9 Jerry; his girlfriend, Angie Wozniczka; and his many friends;
10 therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 all who knew him, the death of Sam Biardo of Park Ridge,
14 Illinois; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Sam Biardo with our sincere
17 condolences.
