92_SR0123 LRB9208714RHrh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Wayne A. Blakeney, who passed away on March 26, 2001; and 5 WHEREAS, Wayne Blakeney was born on September 22, 1916, 6 in Ridge Farm, Illinois to Fred and Bessie Blakeney; he 7 graduated from Ridge Farm High School in 1935, where he won a 8 State title in track; and he attended college in Monmouth; 9 and 10 WHEREAS, Wayne Blakeney was a member of the 33rd Division 11 of the National Guard and was activated into the United 12 States Army, where he served as a mess sergeant in the 99th 13 Division; he was stationed in Europe during World War II and 14 fought in the Battle of the Bulge; and 15 WHEREAS, Wayne Blakeney was the past owner and operator 16 of the Shady Rest, the Hut, and the Ridge Farm Drug Store; in 17 1960 he built, owned, and operated Ridgeway Lanes in Ridge 18 Farm; and 19 WHEREAS, Wayne Blakeney was a member of Ridge Farm Church 20 of the Nazarene, Ridge Farm Lions Club, Illiana Antique Auto 21 Club, and the American Legion; and 22 WHEREAS, The passing of Wayne A. Blakeney will be deeply 23 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Ila; 24 his son, John William Blakeney; his daughters, Becky Klink 25 and Janette Brown; his sisters, Faustine Hawkins and Betty 26 Chandler; his seven grandchildren; and his four 27 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 30 all who knew him, the death of Wayne A. Blakeney of Ridge 31 Farm, Illinois; and be it further -2- LRB9208714RHrh 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Wayne Blakeney with our sincere 3 condolences.
