1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Rabbi Harold Shusterman on his recent passing; and
5 WHEREAS, Rabbi Shusterman was the Rabbi Emeritus of
6 Congregation Bnei Ruven in Chicago, Illinois, where he served
7 as distinguished Rabbi for forty years; and
8 WHEREAS, Harold Shusterman, a native of New York and
9 educated in the Lubavitch Chabad movement is remembered as a
10 knowledgeable, kind, personable, warm, and approachable man
11 who forever sought out individuals to enrich their lives; and
12 WHEREAS, The Jewish community of Chicago, his congregants
13 and friends at Bnei Ruven have lost a valued member; and
14 WHEREAS, His passing will be felt by his loving wife,
15 Evelyn; his sons, Rabbi Shmarya, Rabbi Yisroel, Rabbi Yosef,
16 and Rabbi Mendel; his daughter, Sara Galperin; his sister,
17 Ruth Newman; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
18 therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we remember and
21 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
22 Rabbi Harold Shusterman of Chicago; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to the family of Rabbi Shusterman.
