1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Section 3 of Article VIII of the Constitution of
3 the State of Illinois provides that the General Assembly, by
4 a vote of three-fifths of the members elected to each house,
5 shall appoint an Auditor General; and
6 WHEREAS, The General Assembly has, by Section 2-3 of the
7 Illinois State Auditing Act, charged the Legislative Audit
8 Commission with the responsibility of diligently searching
9 out qualified candidates for the office and making
10 recommendations to the General Assembly, and, pursuant to
11 this statutory mandate, the Legislative Audit Commission has
12 conducted a diligent search and has recommended to the
13 General Assembly the appointment of William G. Holland of
14 Springfield, Illinois, as Auditor General; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
17 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that pursuant to Section 3
18 of Article VIII of the Constitution and upon the
19 recommendation of the Legislative Audit Commission, William
20 G. Holland of Springfield, Illinois, is appointed Auditor
21 General for the State of Illinois for a term commencing on
22 August 1, 2002.
