 1               AMENDMENT TO SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 34

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Joint Resolution 34  on
 3    page   1,   line   16,   by   changing  "Commission  and"  to
 4    "Commission,"; and

 5    on page 1, line 17, by changing "Affairs"  to  "Affairs,  and
 6    the Department of Transportation"; and

 7    on page 1, line 18, by changing "is" to "in"; and

 8    on  page  1  by  replacing  lines  19  through  27  with  the
 9    following:

10        "RESOLVED,  That  the  study  include  an analysis of the
11    existing electricity transmission  capacity  in  this  State,
12    including  recommendations  for  changes  in State or federal
13    regulations or statutes and initiatives that can be taken  by
14    the  Illinois Commerce Commission, the State of Illinois, and
15    the federal government which  may  be  necessary  to  develop
16    remedies   to   any   reliability   or  economic  performance
17    inadequacies in the existing electricity transmission system;
18    an examination of the areas of the State  of  Illinois  where
19    additional  electricity demand is reasonably likely to occur,
20    including  recommendations  about  electricity   transmission
21    system  development  required  to accommodate such reasonably
22    anticipated  additional  electricity   demand   growth,   and

 1    Illinois  Commerce Commission, State of Illinois, and federal
 2    government  initiatives  which   might   be   undertaken   to
 3    facilitate  transmission  system enhancement or expansion for
 4    those  purposes;  and  an  analysis  of  the  feasibility  of
 5    promoting the development of Illinois  coal  resources  as  a
 6    source  of  additional  generation  capacity for the State by
 7    developing additional transmission capacity within the  State
 8    of Illinois to move electricity from the southern portions of
 9    the  State  to  areas  of  significant demand for that power,
10    including  an  estimate  of  the   cost   of   developing   a
11    South-to-North  transmission corridor for those purposes; and
12    be it further"; and

13    on  page  1,  line  28,  by  changing  "Commission  and"   to
14    "Commission,"; and

15    on  page  1,  line 29, by changing "Affairs" to "Affairs, and
16    the Department of Transportation"; and

17    on page 1, line 31, by changing "October 1" to "December 31";
18    and

19    on  page  2,  line  3,  by  changing  "Commission   and"   to
20    "Commission,"; and

21    on page 2, line 4, by changing "Affairs" to "Affairs, and the
22    Secretary of Transportation".
