1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2216
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 2216 on page 2,
3 immediately below line 3, by inserting the following:
4 "Section 10. The Short Term Borrowing Act is amended by
5 adding Section 1.2 as follows:
6 (30 ILCS 340/1.2 new)
7 Sec. 1.2. Fiscal years 2002 and 2003; fiscal crisis
8 borrowing. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act or
9 any other law to the contrary, the Governor, upon his or her
10 authority only, may contract debts not exceeding
11 $1,000,000,000 in the aggregate in fiscal years 2002 and 2003
12 to pay State debts. All moneys so borrowed shall be borrowed
13 for no longer than one year.".
