92_SB1017enr SB1017 Enrolled LRB9204478MWksA 1 AN ACT concerning emergency services. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Underground Utility Facilities 5 Damage Prevention Act is amended by adding Section 11.3 as 6 follows: 7 (220 ILCS 50/11.3 new) 8 Sec. 11.3. Emergency telephone system outages; 9 reimbursement. Any person who negligently damages an 10 underground facility or CATS facility causing an emergency 11 telephone system outage must reimburse the public safety 12 agency that provides personnel to answer calls or to maintain 13 or operate an emergency telephone system during the outage 14 for the agency's costs associated with answering calls or 15 maintaining or operating the system during the outage. For 16 the purposes of this Section, "public safety agency" means 17 the same as in Section 2.02 of the Emergency Telephone System 18 Act. 19 Section 10. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 20 adding Section 7-504 as follows: 21 (625 ILCS 5/7-504 new) 22 Sec. 7-504. Emergency telephone system outages; 23 reimbursement. Any person who negligently causes a motor 24 vehicle accident that causes an emergency telephone system 25 outage must reimburse the public safety agency that provides 26 personnel to answer calls or to maintain or operate an 27 emergency telephone system during the outage for the agency's 28 costs associated with answering calls or maintaining or 29 operating the system during the outage. For the purposes of SB1017 Enrolled -2- LRB9204478MWksA 1 this Section, "public safety agency" means the same as in 2 Section 2.02 of the Emergency Telephone System Act.
