1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize notable events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Betts and
6 Kennedy families are are holding a "Family and Friends
7 Reunion" in Chicago on July 19 to July 21, 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, This historic family occasion will honor two of
9 the families' main matriarchs, Etta Rosie Ola Kennedy-Betts
10 and Danish Kennedy-Hall; and
11 WHEREAS, Born in McCool, Mississippi on August 20, 1920,
12 Etta Rosie Ola Kennedy-Betts moved to the Chicago area in
13 1943; she is the wife of Floyd Betts and the devoted mother
14 of Jean, Roland, Marie, and Raymond; she relocated in 1989 to
15 Tampa, Florida and most recently, Los Angeles, California;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, Born in McCool, Mississippi on September 14,
18 1918, Danish Kennedy-Hall has been a resident of Chicago
19 since 1942; she is the wife of Clifford Hall and the devoted
20 mother of Clifton and Lenora; and
21 WHEREAS, The lives of Mrs. Kennedy-Betts and Mrs.
22 Kennedy-Hall, the last two living members of the Kennedy
23 family, along with the memory of the late Marie Kennedy will
24 be celebrated by generations of family and friends on this
25 historic occasion; and
26 WHEREAS, Reunion festivities include an all-day picnic
27 and after party, a worship service, and a Sunday brunch;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate the Betts/Kennedy family on their family and
2 friends reunion on July 19 to July 21, 2002 in Chicago; and
3 be it further
4 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5 presented to the members of the Betts/Kennedy family as an
6 expression of our esteem.
