1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer sincere congratulations to Roman
4 Strzala for his induction into the American Football
5 Association Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, Roman Strzala began his football success at
8 Proviso High School in Maywood, Illinois where he led his
9 team to capture the Illinois State High School Football
10 Championship; and
11 WHEREAS, Roman's leadership and talent on the field were
12 rewarded with a football scholarship to Iowa State
13 University; his football career continued after graduation in
14 a semi-pro league with the Elmhurst Travelers; and
15 WHEREAS, From 1958 through 1964, Roman was a dominant
16 force on one of the most successful semi-pro teams in the
17 Midwest; the team won three league championships; and
18 WHEREAS, Playing both linebacker and fullback, Roman
19 received the "All League Team" Central States Football League
20 honors; and
21 WHEREAS, Roman has influenced the lives of many aspiring
22 athletes as a youth football coach for twelve years and then
23 as a coach for both football and baseball at Addison Trail
24 High School; and
25 WHEREAS, After leaving football, Roman began a 38-year
26 career with Commonwealth Edison; in addition, he served the
27 community of Addison as a park district commissioner for over
28 24 years in various capacities, 16 of which he served as
29 Board President; and
30 WHEREAS, Roman lives in Bloomingdale, Illinois with

1 Donna, his wife of 46 years, and their three daughters; and
2 WHEREAS, The members of this body recognize Roman Strzala
3 not only as a great athlete but also as someone who
4 contributed to his community and the future of many young
5 athletes; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Roman Strzala; and
9 be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Roman Strzala and his family.
