1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
3 to honor citizens of the State that have earned recognition;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Michael L.
6 Perrine has received the Eastern Region Broadcaster of the
7 Year award from the National Association of Farm
8 Broadcasters, placing him in contention for the National
9 Broadcaster of the Year Award; and
10 WHEREAS, Michael L. Perrine has been in radio for over 43
11 years with over three decades as a farm broadcaster; he grew
12 up in Pittsfield and began working in radio when he won a
13 disc jockey contest during his senior year in high school; he
14 attended junior college in Odessa, Texas; in August of 1960,
15 he married Betty Quincy; he moved back to Illinois and spent
16 most of his married life in Jacksonville; he is the father of
17 four children, Greg, Eric (deceased), Todd and Michelle, and
18 the grandfather of four; and
19 WHEREAS, Michael L. Perrine moved to L'Erable in 1993 and
20 began as farm broadcaster on WKAN; he immediately made an
21 impact by further developing the mid-day farm show and
22 creating new agricultural features; he informs WKAN listeners
23 of special dates and events during his Ag Calendar; he
24 provides interviews about current agricultural issues during
25 the Early Bird Feature; his commitment to the agricultural
26 community is well-known to those involved; and
27 WHEREAS, Michael L. Perrine has received many awards,
28 locally, statewide and nationally including Friend of
29 Growmark Award, Illinois Commodity Conference Award, FFA
30 American Farmer Degree, FFA State Farmer Degree, FFA Chapter
31 Farmer Degree, National Association of Farm Broadcasters
32 Presidents Award, Illinois Farm Service Agency Award,

1 Illinois Corn Growers Association Award, Illinois Soy Bean
2 Association Award, Soil and Water Conservation District
3 Award, and numerous 4H awards; therefore be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we commend Michael L. Perrine for his accomplishments and
7 dedicated service to the agricultural community and
8 congratulate him on being named the Eastern Region
9 Broadcaster of the Year by the National Association of Farm
10 Broadcasters; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to Michael L. Perrine.
