92_HR1077 LRB9217899KFkf 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to 3 recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people 4 of this State; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Charles A. 6 Davis, of Chicago, is celebrating the 80th anniversary of his 7 birth; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was born September 29, 1922, in 9 Mobile, Alabama; he is married to Rosalie and they are the 10 proud parents of Charles, Jr. and Daphne (husband, 11 Theodore); and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis attended school at West Virginia State 13 College and then later attended Roosevelt University, where 14 he studied political science; Mr. Davis served three years in 15 the United States Army during World War II, where he was a 16 Technical Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has served as the President of Charles 18 A. Davis and Associates, Inc., Minority affairs consultants, 19 since 1959; Mr. Davis is also General Partner of Adco 20 Associates, Adco Associates II, the Phoenix Group, and Jayson 21 Building Associates, and is a former director of the Highland 22 Community Bank; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis's previous employment included serving 24 as Executive Director of the National Insurance Association 25 for 23 years, as President of Inner City Foods, Inc., and as 26 Information Officer of the Chicago Commission on Human 27 Relations; Mr. Davis also served as Advertising Manager, 28 Director of Public Relations, and City Editor for the Chicago 29 Defender; and 30 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis is a life member of the NAACP, and the 31 Chairman of Special Service Area #11, Chicago; he currently -2- LRB9217899KFkf 1 serves as a member of the Executive Service Corps, the Urban 2 League Business Advisory Council, the Endowment Committee 3 (ETA), and the Economic Club; he was a member of various 4 civic and charitable organization boards, including the 5 Board of Governors of State Colleges and Universities, the 6 National Conference for Community and Justice, and the 7 Metropolitan Board; he has also served as Chair for the Cook 8 County Health and Hospitals Governing Commission and as 9 Co-Chair for Chicago United; in addition, he belongs to Alpha 10 Phi Alpha Fraternity, Chicago Assembly Governing Board, the 11 Druids Club, the Frogs Club and the Sunshine Boys; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has been honored as Dr. of Human 13 Services by Governors State University; therefore, be it 14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 15 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 16 we congratulate Charles A. Davis on the occasion of his 80th 17 birthday and extend to him our sincere best wishes for the 18 future; and be it further 19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 20 presented to Charles A. Davis as an expression of our respect 21 and esteem.
