1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize milestone events in
4 the history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The McHenry County Farm Bureau began in
6 1911-1912 when McHenry County newspaper editors and bankers
7 joined forces with area farmers to organize a McHenry County
8 Soil Improvement Association; and
9 WHEREAS, Homer Whipple of Harvard became the first
10 president of what soon became known as the McHenry County
11 Farm Bureau; and
12 WHEREAS, On August 26, 2002, the McHenry County Farm
13 Bureau will celebrate its 90th anniversary at its annual
14 meeting; participating in the festivities is Bob Stallman, a
15 Texas rice and cattle farmer and president of the American
16 Farm Bureau Federation; and
17 WHEREAS, A special attraction at the 2002 McHenry County
18 Farm Bureau's Annual meeting will be photo displays showing
19 the farm bureau's accomplishments over the past 50 years; the
20 display will include past presidents and other farm men and
21 women who have been active in product promotion and sports
22 events; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate the McHenry County Farm Bureau on the
26 celebration of its 90th anniversary of service and dedication
27 to the farmers of McHenry County; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the McHenry County Farm Bureau as an expression
30 of our esteem.
