1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to recognize significant events in
4 the lives of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Francis
6 Anthony "Rainey" Byrnes and MaryJeanne Canton will celebrate
7 their 50th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, The ceremony binding Rainey and MaryJeanne to
9 each other took place on July 12, 1952, at St. Bride's
10 Catholic Church in Chicago; and
11 WHEREAS, Rainey attended Our Lady of Peace Grammar School
12 and Leo High School and MaryJeanne attended St. Bride's
13 Grammar School and Loretto High School; and
14 WHEREAS, Rainey served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to
15 1953; and
16 WHEREAS, Rainey and MaryJeanne grew up in the South Shore
17 neighborhood of Chicago; they settled in the Beverly area and
18 raised four children, Francis A., Jr. "Tony" (Joyce), Timothy
19 (Rita), Georgina (the late Michael), and Martha (Luis); they
20 also have twelve grandchildren, Megan, Brooke, Lauren, Tim,
21 Brian, Patrick, Brendan, Courtney, Caroline, Michael,
22 Madeleine, and the late Maura; and
23 WHEREAS, Rainey retired from the Chicago Fire Department
24 as Senior Fire Alarm Operator after 32 years, and then from
25 the Cook County Assessor's Office after 9 years; therefore,
26 be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Francis Anthony "Rainey" Byrnes and
30 MaryJeanne Canton on their 50th wedding anniversary and wish

1 them all the best in the future; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Francis Anthony "Rainey" Byrnes and MaryJeanne
4 Canton as an expression of our esteem.
