 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  proud  to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, Many members of St. Michael Parish and  numerous
 6    well-wishers  from  around  the  area will celebrate the 80th
 7    birthday of Father Leo J. Lyons on August 17,  2002,  with  a
 8    mass  and  reception at St. Michael Catholic Church in Orland
 9    Park, Illinois; and

10        WHEREAS, Father Leo J. Lyons was born on August 31, 1922,
11    the son of Alice and John Lyons; and

12        WHEREAS,  Father  Leo  J.  Lyons  was  ordained  a  Roman
13    Catholic priest in 1948; and

14        WHEREAS, Father Leo J. Lyons spent 28 years in the United
15    States Air Force, having attained the rank of Colonel; and

16        WHEREAS, For many years, Father Leo J. Lyons  has  served
17    as  the  chaplain of the Reber-Tesmond V.F.W. Post #2604, the
18    chaplain at Brother Rice High School in Chicago, the chaplain
19    of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the  chaplain  of  the
20    Bishop  Fulton  J.  Sheen Knights of Columbus Council #10585;
21    and

22        WHEREAS, Father Leo J. Lyons is known  as  the  "Birthday
23    and  Anniversary  Priest"  because  of his invitations to the
24    congregation   to    announce    upcoming    birthdays    and
25    anniversaries,  and  he  regularly offers special prayers for
26    police, fire, and military personnel, including those missing
27    in action; and

28        WHEREAS, Father Leo J. Lyons deserves special recognition
29    for his lifelong devotion to his  God  and  to  his  country;
30    therefore, be it

 1        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 2    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 3    we offer our sincere best wishes to Father Leo  J.  Lyons  on
 4    this happy occasion and that we wish him continued health and
 5    happiness for many years to come; and be it further

 6        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 7    presented to Father Leo J. Lyons  as  an  expression  of  our
 8    esteem.
