1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the
4 Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) on
5 the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and
6 WHEREAS, NEDSRA has met the vital recreation and social
7 needs of residents with disabilities in Northeast DuPage
8 County for 25 years; and
9 WHEREAS, NEDSRA serves 4,000 people of all ages and
10 abilities, regardless of severity, in community-based
11 recreation services; and
12 WHEREAS, NEDSRA is considered a state and national leader
13 for its innovative programs and services; and
14 WHEREAS, NEDSRA was a pioneer in this State and
15 nationwide, for mainstream and inclusion programs; and
16 WHEREAS, NEDSRA implemented 721
17 programs/services/inclusions in this past year; and
18 WHEREAS, NEDSRA has been recognized as one of the State's
19 Outstanding Therapeutic Recreation Agencies; and
20 WHEREAS, NEDSRA launched the Chicago Wheelchair Bulls
21 Basketball program for youth, leading to Illinois' program
22 being the largest in the nation; and
23 WHEREAS, NEDSRA's facility at Centennial Park in Addison
24 was built with the support of the Addison Park District, and
25 is the only fully accessible wheelchair sports and Special
26 Olympic training facility in the Chicago area; and
27 WHEREAS, NEDSRA was recognized for excellence as a
28 two-time National Gold Medal Award Winner, the highest
29 national recognition for a parks and recreation agency; and

1 WHEREAS, NEDSRA has received six awards from the Illinois
2 Park and Recreation Association for Innovative and
3 Outstanding Programs, which is more than any other Special
4 Recreation Association; and
5 WHEREAS, We recognize the efforts of the NEDSRA staff,
6 especially Larry Reiner, who has served as the agency's only
7 Executive Director; and
8 WHEREAS, Larry Reiner has received numerous State and
9 National awards for his leadership at NEDSRA; therefore, be
10 it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we offer our congratulations to NEDSRA on its 25th
14 anniversary; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Executive Director Larry Reiner of NEDSRA.
