 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish  to  recognize  notable achievements of
 4    citizens from the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Shannon  Marie
 6    Willis  was  the  recent  recipient  of  the Jefferson County
 7    Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year Award; and

 8        WHEREAS, Shannon Marie Willis, the  daughter  of  Stephen
 9    and  Kathleen  Willis,  has  taken  an  active role to make a
10    difference in more than just her community; in her effort  to
11    make  a difference, she began participating in church mission
12    trips before her  freshman  year  in  high  school;  she  has
13    participated  in  mission  trips to New York, Maine, Montana,
14    Connecticut, and Arizona; during the  trips  she  has  helped
15    members  of  the  communities  she  was  working in by raking
16    leaves, painting, and doing other odd jobs; and

17        WHEREAS, A student at Woodlawn High School, Shannon Marie
18    Willis has  been  a  member  of  the  Learning  Olympiad  and
19    Curriculum Council all four years, and has also been a member
20    of  the  Spanish Club, the Beta Club, prom committee, and the
21    yearbook committee; in addition, she is a member  of  Central
22    Christian Church; and

23        WHEREAS,  Shannon Marie Willis is also very proud to be a
24    member of Woodlawn High School's WYSE academic  team;  during
25    her sophomore year she won first-place honors in chemistry at
26    regionals and had a fifth-place finish in the sectionals; and

27        WHEREAS,  After  graduating  in  June 2002, Shannon Marie
28    Willis plans on attending Southeast Missouri State University
29    and will major in pre-veterinary medicine with an emphasis in
30    chemistry; in the future, she hopes to find a career she both
31    enjoys and that  will  help  the  people  in  her  community;

 1    therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 3    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we  congratulate  Shannon  Marie  Willis  on  receiving   the
 5    Jefferson  County  Chamber  of  Commerce  Student of the Year
 6    Award; and be it further

 7        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 8    presented  to  Shannon  Marie  Willis as an expression of our
 9    esteem.
