1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois are proud to honor significant events
4 in high school athletics; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Derek
6 Hunsinger of El Paso defeated Kyle Flood of Wilmington to
7 become the 171 lb. Class A State Wrestling Champion on
8 February 16, 2002; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Hunsinger finished the season with 34
10 straight wins and an impressive 37-1 record; his only loss
11 came early in the season to eventual undefeated 160 lb. State
12 Champion Josh Phillips of U High; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Hunsinger is a three-time state qualifier,
14 losing in the first round as a freshman and placing third in
15 2001; he has a 115-18 career record and ranks third on the
16 EPHS career win list behind Paul Cleary (150) and Scott
17 Gentes (122); Derek Hunsinger is El Paso's fourth state
18 wrestling champion and is the first junior to accomplish the
19 feat; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate Derek Hunsinger of El Paso on his victory to
23 become the 171 lb. Class A State Wrestling Champion; and be
24 it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Derek Hunsinger as an expression of our esteem.
