1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize milestone events in the
4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Police Chief John Numrich began his career with
6 the Village of Carol Stream on November 1, 1971, where he
7 served as a patrol officer; and
8 WHEREAS, Chief Numrich was assigned to Detective on
9 September 1, 1973, reassigned as a Patrol Officer on May 1,
10 1975, promoted to Sergeant on May 9, 1978, and promoted to
11 Lieutenant on February 1, 1981; he was later appointed Deputy
12 Chief on July 17, 1995 and as Chief on September 8, 1997; and
13 WHEREAS, Chief Numrich is a 1984 graduate of the 136th
14 Session of the F.B.I. National Academy; he earned a Master's
15 Degree from Aurora University in May 1986, and he is a 1994
16 graduate of the 1st Illinois Law Enforcement Executive
17 Institute Executive Management Program; and
18 WHEREAS, Chief Numrich is the recipient of numerous
19 department commendations and citizen appreciation letters,
20 including the Carol Stream Police Department's Meritorious
21 Service Award on March 1, 1983 for his supervision of several
22 murder investigations; he also received Aurora University's
23 William Gatzke Academic Award in 1986; and
24 WHEREAS, Chief John Numrich is a very visible and active
25 member of the community; he is an active member of the
26 Character Counts Program and District 93's Student Mentoring
27 Program; he has also provided leadership and vision to the
28 Carol Stream Police Department, its members, and the
29 community; and
30 WHEREAS, Chief Numrich is the first Village of Carol
31 Stream employee with 30 years of service; and

1 WHEREAS, Chief John Numrich is retiring this year after
2 30 years of dedicated and committed service to the Carol
3 Stream Police Department; his presence will be missed not
4 only by his colleagues at the Carol Stream Police Department,
5 but also by the residents of Carol Stream; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we congratulate Chief John Numrich on his retirement after 30
9 years of service with the Carol Stream Police Department, and
10 we wish him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it
11 further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Chief John Numrich as an expression of our
14 esteem.
