1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Hospital auxilians and volunteers spend
3 countless hours of their time and energy supporting quality
4 health care for the people of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Over 75,000 people support hospital volunteerism
6 in their local communities; and
7 WHEREAS, Hospital auxilians and volunteers support their
8 hospitals through direct service, community outreach, fund
9 raising, and health care scholarships; and
10 WHEREAS, Illinois communities are healthier places to
11 live because of the community outreach work of hospital
12 auxilians and volunteers, including health fairs, "meals on
13 wheels," personal emergency response programs, health
14 screenings, and volunteer support groups; and
15 WHEREAS, Illinois hospital auxiliaries raise almost $15
16 million annually to support the work of their hospitals; and
17 WHEREAS, Hospital auxiliaries support the education of
18 future health care workers through scholarship programs at
19 the state and local level, and specifically through the
20 Illinois Hospital Association's Constituency on Volunteers
21 scholarship program, which awards over $35,000 annually in
22 scholarships to Illinois students; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE ILLINOIS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY, that we hereby recognize
25 April 22, 2002 as Illinois Hospital Volunteer Day in
26 recognition of the outstanding contributions of hospital
27 auxilians and volunteers to the welfare of the people of
28 Illinois; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Kathy Stafford, 2002 Constituency on Volunteers
