1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
3 Elgin Lodge #737 has been an integral part of the Elgin
4 community for the past 100 years; and
5 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has provided physical
6 therapy scholarships to those Elgin area students seeking to
7 enter the profession of physical therapy; and
8 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has provided students with
9 the opportunity to receive "Most Valuable Student"
10 scholarships sponsored by the Elks National Foundation; and
11 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has promoted patriotism in
12 the Elgin community; and
13 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has supported and assisted
14 America's veterans at Great Lakes and Hines Hospitals; and
15 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has conducted an annual
16 public ceremony honoring the American flag; and
17 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has introduced and worked
18 with local grade and middle schools in Americanism essay
19 contests; and
20 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has supported the Elks
21 National Drug Awareness Program for the city's youth and
22 school systems; and
23 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has conducted an annual
24 "Hoop Shoot" contest for children ages 8 through 13; and
25 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has provided a clinic for
26 physically disadvantaged children at a local hospital; and
27 WHEREAS, The Elgin Elks Lodge #737 Ladies of Elks
28 Organization has contributed numerous donations and volunteer
29 hours to local charities; and

1 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 conducts an annual Easter
2 Bunny Program visiting the residents of local nursing homes;
3 and
4 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 has been an integral part
5 of the downtown business area for the past 98 years; and
6 WHEREAS, Elgin Elks Lodge #737 continues to promote
7 brotherhood, charity, justice, and fidelity among its members
8 and the community; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate Elgin Elks Lodge #737 on the celebration of
12 its 100th anniversary of dedication and service to the Elgin
13 community; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Elgin Elks Lodge #737 as an expression of our
16 esteem.
