 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives were saddened learn of the death of Joseph A.
 4    Aurelio Jr., who passed away December 18, 2001; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Aurelio  was  the only son of Joe, Sr. and
 6    Betty Aurelio, born August 20, 1932; he grew up in  Roseland,
 7    on  the  south  side of Chicago; after graduating from Fenger
 8    High School in Chicago in 1950, Mr. Aurelio attended Thornton
 9    Jr. College in Harvey and  studied  business  administration;
10    and

11        WHEREAS, During the Korean War, Mr. Aurelio was called on
12    to  do  his  part,  but he was in basic training when the war
13    abruptly ended and was not sent overseas; and

14        WHEREAS, Joe Aurelio married Anne Stevens on January  30,
15    1954;  in 1957, he joined his uncle, James Aurelio, as a full
16    partner in an established pizza business in Macomb; and

17        WHEREAS, As the  business  began  to  grow,  Mr.  Aurelio
18    decided  to  start  his  own  pizza  restaurant  and moved to
19    Homewood, where he began Aurelio's Pizza; Mr. Aurelio  worked
20    seven  days  a  week  for  many  years  to  make the business
21    successful, and eventually his perseverance was rewarded; and

22        WHEREAS, Aurelio's Pizza, which began as  a  four  picnic
23    table parlor, grew into a 600-seat restaurant with franchises
24    across  the  nation;  even though he became quite successful,
25    Joe Aurelio never flaunted his success;  he  loved  to  visit
26    with  his  customers;  he  was  always personable and will be
27    remembered for his generous smile; and

28        WHEREAS, Mr. Aurelio's goal in life was to  provide  care
29    and  stability  for  his  family;  his  family over the years
30    included many others who needed the helping hand of a father;

 1        WHEREAS, Mr. Aurelio will be missed by all those who knew
 2    him and loved him, especially his  wife,  Anne  Aurelio;  his
 3    children,  Susan Aurelio, Lori (Don) Nagela, Joey (Christine)
 4    Aurelio,   and   Amy   (Michael   Kaminski)   Aurelio;    his
 5    grandchildren,  Don  and  Kaily  Nagela,  Lia  Kaminski,  and
 6    Cameron  and  Sophia  Aurelio;  his  great-grandchild, Austin
 7    Nagela; and his aunts, Florence Oostman and Eleanor  Aurelio;
 8    therefore, be it

 9        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
10    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11    we mourn, along with his family and friends, the  passing  of
12    Joseph A. Aurelio Jr.; and be it further

13        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
14    presented to his wife, Anne Aurelio.
