1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jim Gallagher
3 has retired after eight years of dedicated service as a
4 member of the Board of Education of Orland School District
5 135; and
6 WHEREAS, Jim Gallagher was an outstanding member of Beta
7 Sigma Alpha during his college days at Chicago State
8 University; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Gallagher, who served as Board president
10 from 1996 through 1999, was a member of the Board during a
11 period of great progress for District 135; and
12 WHEREAS, During Mr. Gallagher's tenure, District 135
13 voters approved a referendum that allowed the district to
14 build Meadow Ridge and Century Junior High Schools and
15 refurbish Orland Junior High School; relations between Orland
16 Park officials and District 135 improved dramatically and
17 District 135 entered into an intergovernmental agreement with
18 the Village of Orland Park; and District 135 approved a
19 student achievement plan and took numerous other actions to
20 improve the quality of education; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Gallagher, who has accepted the position of
22 Superintendent of Evergreen Park High School District 231,
23 deserves our thanks for his leadership and commitment to the
24 children of Orland Park; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Jim Gallagher for his distinguished service
28 as a member of the Board of Education of Orland School
29 District 135 and we wish him continued success as
30 Superintendent of Evergreen Park High School District 231;

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Jim Gallagher as an expression of our esteem.
