1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize significant
4 accomplishments in high school sports in the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, On November 3, 2001, the Carl Sandburg Boys
7 Varsity Soccer Team, the Eagles, won the IHSA State Class AA
8 Soccer Championship; and
9 WHEREAS, The Eagles finished the season with a record of
10 27-1-1, and they won the SICA West Conference, the Glenbard
11 West Tournament, and the Illinois Sectionals and Super
12 Sectionals; in addition, they tied a State record with 21
13 wins in a row; and
14 WHEREAS, The team members are Nick Anello, Colin Aubin,
15 Captain Bob Beard, Zack Bulkema, Matt Burns, Matt
16 Christenson, Alex Duncan, Brett Falloon, Tom Funk, Pete
17 Gabrysiak, Cole Glassner, Tim Kopec, Kevin Kuhn, Greg Kupiec,
18 Nick Kwiatek, Angelo Labriola, Captain Kevin Marszalek, Matt
19 Mergenthaler, Brad Nagel, Matt Nagel, Greg Olmstead, Brian
20 Pasierb, John Partyka, Rick Partyka, Jay Swiderski, Tim
21 Solomon, Jed Zayner, and Jesse Furmanek; their coach is Jack
22 Ferraro; the assistant coaches are Jim Pisani, Pete Knutsen,
23 Mike Erdman, and Dan Olson, the trainers are John Wator and
24 Laura Grasso and the student trainers are Anne Pettenon,
25 Carol Buglio, and Linda Sullivan; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate the Carl Sandburg Boys Varsity Soccer Team on
29 winning the 2001 IHSA State Class AA Soccer Championship; and
30 that we extend our best wishes to the coaches and the team
31 for continued success in the future; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
2 presented to Mike Mecozzi, principal of Carl Sandburg High
3 School, Jack Ferraro, head coach of the Eagles, assistant
4 coaches, Jim Pisani, Pete Knutsen, Mike Erdman, and Dan
5 Olson, and each member of the team as an expression of our
6 esteem.
