1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Wayne L. "Pete" Croft, who passed
5 away on September 9, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Wayne L. "Pete" Croft was born on November 29,
7 1926 in Springfield, Illinois to John and Sylvia Boggs Croft;
8 he was married to the late Mary Agnes Gronewold in 1950; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Croft, a lifelong resident of Springfield,
10 was retired from Pillsbury Mills and had been serving as the
11 doorman for the Illinois House of Representatives for the
12 past 14 years; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Croft was a member of Knox Presbyterian
14 Church, past president and past secretary of Grainmillers
15 Local 24, a former Democratic precinct committeeman, a
16 member of American Legion Post 32, a member of Fraternal
17 Order of Eagles Aerie 437, and a United States Army veteran
18 serving during World War II reconstruction; and
19 WHEREAS, "Pete", well aware of his surroundings in
20 hostile St. Louis Cardinals territory, passionately rallied
21 support for his beloved Chicago Cubs; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of Wayne L. "Pete" Croft will be
23 deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his
24 daughters, Mary (husband, Richard) Rogers, Barb (husband,
25 Alan) Salm, and Debbie Slingerland; his 7 grandchildren; his
26 3 great-grandchildren; and his several nieces, nephews, and
27 cousins; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we mourn, along with all who knew him, the death of Wayne L.
31 "Pete" Croft of Springfield, Illinois; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Wayne L. "Pete" Croft with our
3 sincere condolences.
