1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Wilbert Watkins of Lansing, Illinois, will celebrate the
8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Wilbert and Catherine Watkins met in Calumet City,
10 Illinois where Catherine was working at a family grocery
11 store and Wilbert was a customer; and
12 WHEREAS, Wilbert D. and Catherine J. were united in holy
13 matrimony on July 7, 1951; and
14 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Luanne (husband,
15 Gary) Thomas and Mark (wife, Jodi) Watkins; and the
16 grandparents of one grandson, Neil; and
17 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
18 highest plateaus when a couple such as Wilbert and Catherine
19 Watkins celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
20 WHEREAS, Wilbert and Catherine Watkins stand as examples
21 of the best of our society, and their love and devotion to
22 each other and to their family and friends serve as a
23 reminder to all that hard work, dedication, and love can make
24 a difference in today's world; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Wilbert and Catherine Watkins on the occasion
28 of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them
29 for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with
30 children and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that

1 we wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be
2 it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
