1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The first contract issued under the Sheltered
3 Workshops for the Severely Handicapped Section in the
4 Illinois Procurement Code was given to an Illinois
5 not-for-profit agency for the production of Illinois license
6 plates; and
7 WHEREAS, Macon Resources, Inc. is located in Decatur and
8 has produced license plates since 1984; and
9 WHEREAS, Presently, only 70% of Illinois license plates
10 are made in Illinois while the other 30% are made in Canada;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, It is our belief that certain not-for-profit
13 workshops for the severely handicapped can complete the
14 requests as needed from the Secretary of State for license
15 plates; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18 we urge the Secretary of State to keep the production of
19 license plates within the State of Illinois and to try to
20 utilize not-for-profit agencies for the severely handicapped
21 for the manufacturing of the license plates; and be it
22 further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to the Secretary of State.
