1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the 2001
4 York Community High School Girls Track Team on an impressive
5 showing at the Class AA State Finals in Charleston on May 19,
6 2001; and
7 WHEREAS, The Team captured the 4 x 800 Meter Relay Title
8 with a first place time of 9:19.98; and
9 WHEREAS, Team members, Kelly O'Neill, Hillary Palumbo,
10 Allison Billhardt, Kara Henry, and Lauren Dick, have
11 demonstrated extraordinary determination and commitment in
12 their quest to win yet another State title for York Community
13 High School; and
14 WHEREAS, The 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team also places first
15 at the Illinois Top Times Indoor Prep Meet on March 31, 2001;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, This young team of sophomores and one junior,
18 who, except for Kelly O'Neill, had never run at State before,
19 overcame a lack of experience by working together and
20 remaining cool under the intense pressure of Statewide
21 competition; and
22 WHEREAS, Senior Kelly Forst, one of York's top runners,
23 who served as captain of both the Track and Cross Country
24 Teams, offered inspiration, encouragement and leadership to
25 her younger teammates and was instrumental in their victory;
26 and
27 WHEREAS, We recognize the efforts of the Lady Duke Track
28 Coaches, Annette Schulte, Phil Urvanski, Carolyn Brandt, and
29 Gretchen Kulat, whose guidance motivated these young athletes
30 and many others before them, to excel to record levels; and

1 WHEREAS, the State 4 x 800 Relay Title is a source of
2 great pride to the school and the entire Elmhurst community,
3 building upon one of the nation's most prominent and
4 successful athletic programs; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we do hereby offer our congratulations to the members of the
8 4 x 800 meter Relay Team, their Coach Annette Schulte, and
9 the entire York Community High School Track Team on their
10 achievements this year; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the Lady Duke Coaches, the 4 x 800 Relay Team
13 Members and Kelly Forst.
