 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our  attention  that  Mary  Ellen
 6    Lesh  is  retiring from Christ the King School in Springfield
 7    after 36 years of dedicated service; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Lesh began her teaching career  as  a
 9    volunteer tutor, but was soon drafted into teaching the third
10    grade, where she remained throughout her career; and

11        WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Lesh faced the challenges when Christ
12    the  King  was  bursting  with  its  peak  enrollment  of 831
13    students; and

14        WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Lesh has witnessed  many  changes  at
15    Christ  the  King,  including the building of the new church,
16    changing enrollments, several principals, and the building of
17    a new parish center and gymnasium; and

18        WHEREAS, Through all  the  changes  at  Christ  the  King
19    School,  Mary  Ellen  Lesh  has  remained  a "Catholic school
20    principal's dream: committed, cheery, and caring"; and

21        WHEREAS,  Mary  Ellen  Lesh  was  instrumental   in   the
22    establishment  of St. Martin de Porres Center in Springfield;
23    and

24        WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Lesh was born in Skokie, Illinois  to
25    Irish  immigrants  Emily and Patrick McNeely; she has resided
26    in Springfield since 1963 and is the mother of Erin (husband,
27    Jon) Bauman, Molly (husband,  Tom)  Rockford,  and  the  late
28    Danny  Lesh,  and grandmother of Jon, Molly, Emily, and Megan
29    Bauman; and

30        WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Lesh is proud of her  Irish  heritage

 1    and  lists  St.  Patrick's  Day  as her favorite holiday; she
 2    enjoys spending time with her family, cooking,  reading,  and
 3    bicycling; and

 4        WHEREAS,  Mary  Ellen  Lesh plans to spend her retirement
 5    traveling, tackling household  projects,  and  spending  time
 6    with her family and friends; therefore, be it

 7        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 8    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 9    we congratulate Mary Ellen Lesh on her  retirement  after  36
10    years  or dedication and service to Christ the King School in
11    Springfield and we  wish  her  well  in  all  of  her  future
12    endeavors; and be it further

13        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
14    presented to Mary Ellen Lesh as an expression of our esteem.
