 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our  attention  that  Malcolm  R.
 6    Mathias,  MD is retiring from his Blue Mound medical practice
 7    after sixty years of service; and

 8        WHEREAS, Malcolm R. Mathias, MD was born  on  January  2,
 9    1924  in  Macon,  Illinois;  he  is a graduate of Macon Grade
10    School and Macon High School; he attended Milikin  University
11    from  1942  until  1943 before enlisting in the United States
12    Army in 1942; and

13        WHEREAS, Dr. Mathias served in  the  United  States  Army
14    from  June  1943  to  February  1946; he was assigned to 10th
15    Military Division in Camp Swift, Texas; and was sent to Italy
16    where he served until the end of the war; and

17        WHEREAS, Dr. Mathias returned to  Milikin  University  in
18    1946  and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in June
19    1948; he began  medical  school  in  September  1948  at  the
20    University  of  Illinois  at  Chicago,  and graduated in June
21    1952; and

22        WHEREAS, Dr. Mathias  interned  at  Indianapolis  General
23    Hospital  for one year before joining Dr. Kenneth L. Pistonus
24    in Moweaqua from September 1953 through March 1954; and

25        WHEREAS, Dr. Mathias opened his Blue  Mound  practice  in
26    1954  and  has  served  the  citizens of Blue Mound, Illinois
27    until his retirement; and

28        WHEREAS, Dr. Mathias has been supported by his loving and
29    very proud family, who include his wife of 51 years,  Violet,
30    his  sons,  Gregory,  Randy,  Douglas,  and  James,  and  his

 1    grandchildren, Trent, Krista, and Andrew; and

 2        WHEREAS,  The citizens of Blue Mound will dearly miss Dr.
 3    Mathias who has been an essential part of the  community  for
 4    so many years; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 6    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 7    we congratulate Malcolm R. Mathias, MD on his retirement from
 8    his Blue Mound medical practice after serving the citizens of
 9    Blue Mound since 1954; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
11    presented  to  Malcolm R. Mathias, MD as an expression of our
12    esteem.
