1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 the Auditor General be directed to conduct a financial and
5 management audit of the Teachers Academy for Mathematics and
6 Science, which is primarily funded through the State Board of
7 Education; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That this audit shall include, but not be
9 limited to, the following determinations:
10 (1) whether some grants for the Teachers Academy
11 for Mathematics and Science were made by the State Board
12 of Education from programs designed only for individual
13 schools and school districts;
14 (2) whether other grants for the Teachers Academy
15 for Mathematics and Science made by the State Board of
16 Education were in excess of their entitlement;
17 (3) whether the Teachers Academy for Mathematics
18 and Science has met goals it set with the State Board of
19 Education in return for substantial increases in State
20 funding; and
21 (4) whether the substantial expenditure of State
22 funds over the last 5 years on the Teachers Academy for
23 Mathematics and Science has resulted in improvements in
24 math and science scores at participating schools; and be
25 it further
26 RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education shall
27 cooperate fully and promptly with the Office of the Auditor
28 General in the conduct of this audit; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That the Auditor General commence this audit as
30 soon as possible and report his findings upon completion to
31 the Legislative Auditing Commission, the Governor, and
32 members of the General Assembly in accordance with the

1 Illinois State Auditing Act; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 delivered to the Auditor General.
