1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that John Barker is
6 retiring from his duties as a teacher of math and chemistry
7 at Danville High School at the end of the 2001 school year;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Barker received his bachelor's degree in
10 chemistry with a minor in mathematics from Eastern Illinois
11 University in 1962; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Barker has spent the entire 39 years of his
13 career teaching at Danville High School where he instilled
14 the importance of education to students and where he
15 enthusiastically stressed the philosophy of teaching children
16 first and the subject second; and
17 WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding service, the
18 Danville High School will christen the hallway where his
19 classroom is with a bronze plaque naming the hall "The John
20 M. Barker Chemistry Hall"; therefore be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we congratulate John Barker on his retirement from Danville
24 High School and we wish him well in all of his future
25 endeavors; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to John Barker as an expression of our esteem.
