1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone
4 achievements in the history of high school organizations in
5 the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the PORTA
7 Community Problem Solvers Team has been selected as Illinois
8 State Champions for the second year in a row; and
9 WHEREAS, The team of talented, hard working students has
10 put in countless hours of public service and has successfully
11 represented the State of Illinois in international
12 competition; and
13 WHEREAS, The PORTA Community Problem Solvers Team has
14 also been honored by the Illinois Emergency Management
15 Agency, FEMA's District V Region, and the Illinois Stormwater
16 and Flood Plain Management Association for their work in
17 reclaiming and re-using flood prone land and for educating
18 the community in land use possibilities; and
19 WHEREAS, The PORTA Community Problem Solvers Team will
20 compete with other senior teams at the Future Problem Solving
21 International Competition, which will be held in June of 2001
22 at the University of Georgia; the team won first place in the
23 Civic and Cultural category at the 2000 competition;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate the PORTA Community Problem Solvers Team on
28 being selected as the 2001 Illinois State Champions and we
29 wish them well at the Future Problem Solving International
30 Competition this June; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2 Solvers Team as an expression of our esteem.
