1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Herman E.
6 Gray, Jr. has been elected to the office of Worthy Grand
7 Patron of the Order of Eastern Star; and
8 WHEREAS, Herman E. Gray, Jr. is styled Worthy Grand
9 Patron of Eureka Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Prince
10 Hall Affiliation, State of Illinois and Jurisdiction; and
11 WHEREAS, Herman E. Gray, Jr. is the presiding male for
12 over forty Eastern Star Chapters throughout the State of
13 Illinois; and
14 WHEREAS, Herman E. Gray, Jr. served as a Past Patron of
15 Queen Elizabeth Chapter No. 16, Order of Easter Star, East
16 St. Louis, Illinois and as Past Master of Southern Cross
17 Masonic Lodge No. 112, East St. Louis, Illinois; he is also a
18 thirty-third degree mason; and
19 WHEREAS, The Prince Hall Eastern Star in the State of
20 Illinois has been in existence for over one hundred years;
21 Herman E. Gray, Jr. is the third person from the city of East
22 St. Louis to be exalted to the office of Worthy Grand Patron;
23 and
24 WHEREAS, Herman E. Gray, Jr. will be honored on Saturday
25 May 19, 2001 for his accomplishment of being elected to the
26 office of Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of Eastern Star;
27 therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we congratulate Herman E. Gray, Jr. of East St. Louis,

1 Illinois on being elected to the office of Worthy Grand
2 Patron of the Order of Eastern Star; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to Herman E. Gray, Jr. as an expression of our
5 esteem.
