1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone
4 achievements by citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Lee Ann Ufford
6 received the Lloyd "Curly" Harris Award in Government during
7 the honors convocation ceremony on April 8, 2001, at Southern
8 Illinois University at Edwardsville; selected by the faculty
9 of the Department of Political Science, this award is given
10 annually to recognize an outstanding student in the field of
11 Political Science; and
12 WHEREAS, Lee Ann Ufford will also be inducted into the
13 honor society Phi Kappa Phi for maintaining a perfect 4.0
14 grade point average while at Southern Illinois University at
15 Edwardsville; and
16 WHEREAS, Lee Ann Ufford is a returning student, having
17 started her higher education at the University of Arizona in
18 1973; she graduated summa cum laude from Southern Illinois
19 University at Edwardsville on May 6, 2001 with a Bachelors
20 degree in Political Science and a minor in Women's Studies;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Lee Ann Ufford has been an inspiration and role
23 model for her hard work and dedication to her studies at the
24 University; she served on the Excellence in Education
25 Committee and organized a voter registration drive on the
26 campus that encouraged students to become involved in the
27 democratic process; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we wish to congratulate Lee Ann Ufford on her tremendous
31 accomplishments at Southern Illinois University at

1 Edwardsville, her acceptance to Phi Kappa Phi honor society,
2 and her recognition as the Lloyd "Curly" Harris Award
3 recipient; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Lee Ann Ufford as an expression of our esteem.
