1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is deeply troubled
3 by such tragic school shooting incidents as at Columbine High
4 School in Colorado and more recently at Santana High School
5 in California; and
6 WHEREAS, To prevent such incidents from happening in this
7 State, a toll-free hotline should be available for students
8 to call if they have information that involves guns, harm
9 coming to another student, or harm to a school building;
10 therefore be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we encourage each school district in this State to establish
14 a toll-free hotline for students in elementary and high
15 school to call if they have information that involves guns,
16 harm coming to another student, or harm to a school building;
17 and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That the school district immediately provide
19 the information taken to a local law enforcement agency for
20 investigation; and be it further
21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 delivered to the State Superintendent of Education.
