1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans
3 will present its annual "Dante Award" on May 17, 2001; and
4 WHEREAS, Allison Rosati, the co-anchor of NBC 5's 4:00
5 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. newscast, will be this year's recipient;
6 Ms. Rosati began her career as a reporter in Rochester,
7 Minnesota in 1985; after 2 years she moved to Buffalo, New
8 York to become a news anchor; and Ms. Rosati moved to Chicago
9 in 1990 to join WMAQ TV where she was nominated for an Emmy
10 Award in 1991 for her performance on the early morning news
11 program "First Thing in the Morning"; and
12 WHEREAS, In addition to Allison Rosati's responsibilities
13 as co-anchor, she has given enthusiastic support to many
14 activities in her community; she is a board member for Big
15 Brothers Big Sisters of Chicago and chairs the Bowl For Kids
16 Sake Fundraiser and the Celebrity Golf Outing; she raises
17 money for various other Chicago charities by hosting the
18 United Charities Chair Auction and the Greater Chicago Food
19 Depository's annual Food Bag Auction; and she volunteers with
20 various other charitable organizations; and
21 WHEREAS, Allison Rosati has been a proponent of education
22 by speaking to area school children about the importance and
23 necessity of education and about the various aspects of the
24 television profession; and
25 WHEREAS, Allison Rosati has received numerous awards
26 including: the Chicago Emmy in 2000; the National Emmy; the
27 2000 Award for Excellence from the Chicago Association of
28 Black Journalists; the Excellence in Communications Award
29 from the Justinian Society of Chicago; the David Award for
30 Achievement in Broadcasting from the Italo-American National
31 Union; the Woman of the Year Award from the Italian American
32 Police Association; the Impressa Award from the Women's

1 Division, Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans; and
2 various other awards and nominations; and
3 WHEREAS, Allison Rosati is married to Dr. Lee Dennis and
4 is the proud and dedicated mother of four children; therefore
5 be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we congratulate Allison Rosati on being named the recipient
9 of the 2000 Dante Award, presented by the Joint Civic
10 Committee of Italian Americans; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to Ms. Rosati.
