1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Bill Polka is
6 retiring from his duties as St. Clair County Engineer this
7 year; and
8 WHEREAS, Bill Polka assumed the duties as St. Clair
9 County Engineer in 1985; prior to this, he was the St. Clair
10 County assistant engineer; he also worked for the Illinois
11 Department of Transportation from 1965 through 1979; and
12 WHEREAS, Among the many projects that Mr. Polka has
13 worked on during his tenure include the road improvements to
14 Old Collinsville Road, Hartman Lane, 74th Street in
15 Belleville, and Green Mount Road; he was also responsible for
16 improvements made to about 30 bridges during his tenure with
17 the County; and
18 WHEREAS, Bill Polka is a member of Queen of Peace
19 Catholic Church and is a member of the SERRA Club; he is an
20 avid horticulturist, golfer and bowler; and
21 WHEREAS, Bill Polka's very proud and supportive family
22 include his wife, Ann; his daughters, Molly, Jean, and Amy;
23 his sons-in-law, Jeff, Curt, and John; and his 9
24 grandchildren; and
25 WHEREAS, Bill Polka dedicated his tenure to make the
26 lives of the citizens of St. Clair County better and safer;
27 he is a well respected engineer whose efforts have never gone
28 unnoticed; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate Bill Polka on his retirement from fifteen
2 years of service as St. Clair County Engineer, and we wish
3 him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Bill Polka as an expression of our esteem.
