1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Helen Walker, who recently passed
5 away; and
6 WHEREAS, Helen Walker attended Aquinas Dominican High
7 School in Chicago; she attended the University of Illinois at
8 Champaign-Urbana where she met her husband; and she received
9 a Master's degree in English from Northwestern University;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, Helen Walker is remembered for her dedication to
12 children and community; she was a member of the Evanston
13 Township High School District 202 school board; before her
14 election to the school board she had been PTA Council
15 co-president, co-chairwoman of the Evanston school districts'
16 Joint Legislative Task Force, and head of a Candidate
17 Nominating Committee; and
18 WHEREAS, Helen Walker grew up along Chicago's South
19 Shore; she worked for World Book, Inc. for eight years; she
20 loved English, literature, and had a great sense of humor;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Helen Walker was a proud feminist, who marched
23 for women's rights; she was a also a passionate Democrat; and
24 WHEREAS, The passing of Helen Walker will be deeply felt
25 by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, George
26 Walker; and her daughters, Nora and Elizabeth; therefore, be
27 it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we mourn, along with her family and friends, the death of
31 Helen Walker; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Helen Walker.
