1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize significant
4 milestones in the lives of the people of the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, Those individuals who minister to the spiritual
7 and literary needs of others are worthy of the highest
8 respect and admiration; and
9 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
10 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of
11 this State who make outstanding contributions to society; and
12 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis has published his first novel,
13 entitled "Line of Vision"; and
14 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis currently practices commercial
15 litigation and election law at the Chicago law firm of
16 Williams, Collings & Bax; and
17 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis received his bachelor's degree
18 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he
19 served as president of his fraternity, and his law degree
20 from Northwestern University School of Law; and
21 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis served as Deputy Legal Counsel to
22 the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, and as
23 counsel to the Illinois Democratic Party; David W. Ellis is
24 respected by both sides of the aisle in the Statehouse and is
25 considered a leading authority on campaign, election and
26 legal questions dealing with the legislative process; and
27 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis, is the three-time reigning
28 recipient of the St. Nicholas "Those Who Excel" Award of
29 Merit; and
30 WHEREAS, David W. Ellis earned the respect and admiration

1 of all those in the General Assembly who have had the honor
2 and pleasure of working with him; and
3 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and advice was a great
4 influence on his fellow Democratic staffers, and he
5 immediately earned the respect and affection of everyone
6 around him; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate David W. Ellis on achieving great success in
10 the fields of law and literature; we wish him much success
11 during his reign as the St. Nicholas "Those Who Excel" Award
12 of Merit winner; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to David W. Ellis an an expression of our esteem.
