 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Virginia "Dinny" Knuepfer has served as a member
 3    of the Board of Trustees of the Conservation  Foundation  for
 4    the past six years; and

 5        WHEREAS,  The  Conservation Foundation was established in
 6    1972 by business and community leaders; the  mission  of  the
 7    Foundation  is  "to enhance the quality of life by preserving
 8    open space, protecting natural lands,  and  improving  rivers
 9    and watersheds"; the membership exceeds 1,600 members and 500
10    volunteers  from  DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties in
11    Illinois; and

12        WHEREAS, During her six years as an active member of  the
13    Board   of   Trustees  Virginia  Knuepfer  has  overseen  the
14    preservation of more  than  1,000  acres  of  open  space  in
15    DuPage,  Kane,  Kendall,  and Will Counties; she has seen the
16    development of the DuPage River Watershed  Plan,  a  plan  to
17    clean  up  and restore the DuPage River; she has overseen the
18    passage of $215 million in open space bonds for DuPage, Kane,
19    and Will  Counties;  she  served  on  the  DuPage  Referendum
20    Committee  in  1997;  and  she  has  seen the doubling of the
21    Foundation's membership, the doubling of staff, the  doubling
22    of  assets,  and  the Foundation's expansion from one to four
23    counties; and

24        WHEREAS, Virginia Knuepfer has also been an active member
25    of the Elmhurst Garden Club, including serving on  the  State
26    Board;   she   was   an  active  member  of  the  Ray  Graham
27    Association; she organized Crowning Glory, a group  of  women
28    who  design  head  coverings for women suffering with cancer;
29    she has served on the board of the Elmhurst Art  Museum;  and
30    she  is a former board member of the Metro YWCA and Community
31    Nursing; and

32        WHEREAS,  Virginia  Knuepfer  is  the  mother   of   five

 1    children,  the grandmother of fourteen grandchildren, and the
 2    great-grandmother of one; she loves to  garden  and  practice
 3    conservation; therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 6    we congratulate Virginia  Knuepfer  on  her  service  to  the
 7    Conservation Foundation; and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to Virginia "Dinny" Knuepfer.
