 1                         HOUSE RESOLUTION 55

 2        WHEREAS, House Resolution 728 was adopted by the House of
 3    Representatives of the 91st General  Assembly  on  April  14,
 4    2000; and

 5        WHEREAS,  House  Resolution  728  required  the  Board of
 6    Higher Education, the Illinois Community College  Board,  and
 7    the  State  Board  of Education to conduct an analysis of the
 8    educational needs of the East St. Louis metropolitan area and
 9    to make a report to the Governor  and  the  General  Assembly
10    during February 2001; and

11        WHEREAS,  More  time  is needed to conduct this analysis,
12    and a long-term study needs to be undertaken; therefore be it

13        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
14    NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL  ASSEMBLY,  that  the  Board of Higher
15    Education, the Illinois  Community  College  Board,  and  the
16    State  Board  of Education shall make a report to the General
17    Assembly on or before March 31, 2001 on the analysis  of  the
18    educational  needs  of  the  East St. Louis metropolitan area
19    that was required to be conducted under House Resolution  728
20    of the 91st General Assembly; and be it further

21        RESOLVED,  That  in  this  report  the  Board  of  Higher
22    Education,  the  Illinois  Community  College  Board, and the
23    State Board of Education shall advise the General Assembly on
24    the need for a long-term study of the  educational  needs  of
25    the East St. Louis metropolitan area; and be it further

26        RESOLVED,  That  suitable  copies  of  this resolution be
27    delivered  to  the  Chairperson  of  the  Board   of   Higher
28    Education,  the Chairperson of the Illinois Community College
29    Board, and the Chairperson of the State Board of Education.
