 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  saddened  to learn of the death of Mrs.
 4    Lucille McKay Garnett, who recently passed away; and

 5        WHEREAS, Lucille  McKay  Garnett  was  born  in  Chicago,
 6    Illinois  on  March  18,  1920;  she  was  a 1938 graduate of
 7    Englewood High School; she was a member of Alpha Kappa  Alpha
 8    Sorority   while  attending  Fisk  University  in  Nashville,
 9    Tennessee; she received her Bachelor  of  Science  degree  in
10    Education from Northwestern University, and a Master's degree
11    in Psychology from DePaul University in 1976; and

12        WHEREAS,  Lucille  Garnett worked seven years as a social
13    worker in Cook County; she worked over forty years as a grade
14    school teacher for the Chicago Public Schools; she served  as
15    an  educational  counselor, and acted as assistant principal,
16    in addition to many other roles; and

17        WHEREAS, Lucille Garnett was a member of the Chums Bridge
18    and Social Club since the founding of the club in  1946;  she
19    traveled  extensively,  across  the  United  States,  through
20    Europe, in the Caribbean, and to South Africa; and

21        WHEREAS,  The  passing  of  Lucille McKay Garnett will be
22    deeply felt by all who knew  and  loved  her,  including  her
23    husband,  Winfield Alexander Garnett, Jr., who she married on
24    August 16, 1941; her children,  Winfield  James  and  Stephan
25    Warren;  her  grandchildren, Winfield Alexander III and Lance
26    Aaron; and her other family members and  friends;  therefore,
27    be it

28        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
29    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30    we mourn, along with her family and friends, the  passing  of
31    Lucille McKay Garnett; and be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to the family of Lucille McKay Garnett.
