1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the history of businesses of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Advanced Information Systems, Inc. of Peoria,
6 Illinois was a recipient of the Governor's Small Business
7 Award recently awarded by the Governor of Illinois, George H.
8 Ryan; and
9 WHEREAS, The Governor's Small Business Awards recognize
10 the important contributions that small business owners make
11 to the Illinois economy; and
12 WHEREAS, Girish Seshagiri is the CEO and Patricia
13 Ferguson is the president of Advanced Information Services,
14 Inc.; in 1986, Mr. Seshagiri founded Advanced Information
15 Systems, Inc. to create high wage, high technology jobs in
16 information services in central Illinois; the fourteen
17 year-old company started with one employee and has
18 successfully grown to employ 140 people; and
19 WHEREAS, Ms. Ferguson and Mr. Seshagiri have demonstrated
20 outstanding entrepreneurship through their unique design and
21 approach to create an innovative, fast-paced, intensive
22 technical training program to re-train college-educated
23 people with skills to become computer programmers and enter
24 into high-wage technology jobs; Advanced Information
25 Services, Inc. provides software application development
26 services, technology training consulting/integration services
27 and process consulting/training services; some of the
28 customers that utilize Advanced Information Services, Inc.
29 include Caterpillar, State Farm, Ford, Hewlett Packard, and
30 IBM Global Services; and
31 WHEREAS, Advanced Information Services, Inc. recognizes

1 the importance of helping to employ both women and
2 minorities; today, Advanced Information Services, Inc. is
3 comprised of 42 percent minorities and 36 percent women; and
4 WHEREAS, The list of other notable awards and
5 recognitions that Advanced Information Systems, Inc. has
6 received include a feature story in the December 1990 issue
7 of Business Week recognizing Advanced Information Systems,
8 Inc. for its quality process methods, receiving the 1999
9 Software Process Achievement Award sponsored by the
10 IEEE/Software Engineering Institute, and being the recipient
11 of the 1999 Power of Minority Business Excellence Award;
12 therefore be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15 we congratulate Advanced Information Systems, Inc. for
16 earning the Governor's Small Business Award for the year
17 2001; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Girish Seshagiri, CEO of Advanced Information
20 Systems, Inc., and Patricia Ferguson, the president of
21 Advanced Informations, Systems, Inc.
